Not everyone, of course, has the dexterity of a top-class conjurer. This soon becomes apparent in this trick. Produce a small, beautifully-coloured box and show it to be empty. Hand it to a spectator for safekeeping. Next, make a silk vanish and claim that it will reappear, as if by magic, in the box. Ask the spectator to open the box and take out the silk. When he goes to do that, the box falls to pieces on the floor. He’s left holding the lid from which is dangling - yes, that’s right - the vanished silk! The sight of the powerless spectator and the broken box guarantees a resounding success.
