This is probably one of the most chauvinistic tricks on the market (when did you ever hear of ‘sawing a man in half’?). In spite of that, this illusion is widely known. We’ve all seen it done hundreds of times, and time and again we’ve seen the impact it has on audiences of all kinds. An unaccountable, spectacular trick that’s lost none of its magic. In our version, the assistant lies face up in a box, which is suspended about sixty centimetres off the floor. The audience can see right under the box. Your assistant's head and feet remain in full view at all times. Her arms and legs are also seen if you open the small doors on the sides of the box. Close the doors, saw the box in two and separate both halves. Her head and feet remain in view, of course. Open the doors briefly to give a second look at her arms and legs! You need just one assistant to do the trick, even though the audience sees her feet wiggle!
