And seeing as ‘Zigzag Illusion’ has since become a great classic, we’re forced to concede that he’s right there. Get things rolling by having your assistant step into a cubicle. She sticks her face, hands and left foot through special openings, so that the audience can always see her. Stick two metal plates through the cubicle, splitting her thus in three; these plates come out at the back. Despite the fact that the assistant was visibly cut in three, her head, hands and foot continue to move. You now push the middle part to one side! And sure enough, you create an empty space between the head and the legs of the assistant. In spite of this void your assistant can still speak, laugh and even shake hands! Slide the middle part back into its initial position, remove the metal plates and open the small doors. Your assistant steps out, unhurt, and revels in the applause.
